Think about how you choose your clothes… or how you choose your furniture. Most likely, you are willing to learn more about what you are purchasing. Why not do the same with your towels? If you think about it, towels are the first thing you reach for in the morning after washing your face or after you take a long shower at the end of a very long day. This makes choosing a high-quality towel important. But most of the time, we do not know what to look for.

These are the features you should definitely bear in mind before awarding yourself with a fluffy, high-quality towel:

1) CONTENT MATTERS

The first thing that you will probably notice in the towel labels will be the content. This is the part that you should pay special attention to. Mostly towels are made of materials such as cotton, bamboo, or microfibers. While producing towels, cotton is the material that offers the best features. Due to its special fibers, Turkish cotton towels are softer, more absorbent, quick-drying, and dense, while being lightweight at the same time.

Because Turkish towels are 100% natural, they do not cause any allergic reactions and they are appropriate for sensitive skin. Therefore, especially shopping for children’s towels, parents should check out the contents very carefully.

2) THE PRODUCTION PROCESS

Using a good material is not the only requirement necessary to produce a high-quality towel. Every stage of the process, from picking the cotton from the cotton field to delivering them to the customers, plays a key role when it comes to producing high-quality towels. There are many other factors that affect the quality of a towel, such as the quality of the fibers or the dye that is being used. For instance, when the weaving threads used while producing these towels are not chosen well, this may result in fast-wearing selvage cloth. Even though it is not always possible to gain detailed information about the production process, you may look for a certain kind of certification while buying your towels.

3) THE WEIGHT

Another feature that you can check out in the labels while buying a towel is its weight. In the labels, this information about the towel is shown as GSM, which is short for Grams per Square Meter. Every fabric has a different basis weight and, therefore, a different density. Most towels have between 300 and 900 GSM. However, density does not always equal a high quality, because the ideal density of a towel depends on where you are planning to use them. While choosing a beach towel or a hand towel, you may prefer much lighter ones. But it is better to go for heavier ones while shopping for bath towels, as they are more likely to be subjected to water and should be much more absorbent. Bear in mind that Turkish Towels (also known as Peshtemal or Ottoman towels) offer the lightness and absorbency all at once, so if you want to use your towels for various occasions, getting one can be a great idea!

4) THE SHRINKAGE

The truth is, like all other textile products, cotton towels too have shrinkage, to some extent. In order to minimize the shrinkage, you should pay attention to cleaning instructions. In order to learn how to wash your towels, click here.

 5) THE DESIGN

Nowadays, towels are much more than "just towels". At the beach, we use beach towels to complete our beach look by using them as accessories. At home, we use our towels to decorate our bathroom with an elegant touch. Therefore, it is important to choose the right colors and the patterns while buying a towel.

While shopping for bath towels, try to choose the colors that will fit the general ambiance of your bathroom. For instance, if you like modern interior designs, using more traditional designs may not suit the whole look. While choosing the design, you should keep in mind that towel's design may also affect your experience. How? Choosing darker shades at the beach might make you sweat more because they have a tendency to absorb the heat more, for example.

Of course, your needs and expectations deter what high quality is. And its definition may differ from one to another. At Hencely, we believe in informing our customers and offering them high-quality products. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
